Selection process
Selection is a three-stage process: shortlisting, a qualifying Skill/Trade Test, and a Written Test on which final merit is based.
Stage 1: Shortlisting of Online Applications
Applications are screened by an Institute-level Scrutiny Committee to shortlist candidates for the Trade Test/Computer Skill Test. If applications are large in number, the Committee may adopt additional shortlisting criteria based on desirable qualifications and relevant experience. The Committee's decision is final and binding; no interim correspondence is entertained.
Stage 2: Computer Skill Test / Trade Test
Conducted on a qualifying basis for candidates shortlisted at Stage 1, to further shortlist candidates for the Written Test. Marks/grades from this stage are not carried forward or weighted at Stage 3. The Selection Committee may conduct these tests separately or combined, at its discretion.
QualifyingStage 3: Written Test
A written test of 100 marks — Part-A (General): 50 marks, Part-B (Specialization): 50 marks. The Indicative Syllabus for each post is available on the Institute website. Final selection is based purely on merit of marks obtained in this test. The recommendation panel remains valid for one year from the date of approval by the Competent Authority.
